Hit-And-Run Suspect Caught By Police

In late February, police say that 58-year-old Richard Hierholzer was crossing Street Road in Bensalem. Despite using a crosswalk, he was struck by a vehicle. That driver stayed on the scene. However, a second vehicle also struck Hierholzer. The driver of that vehicle pulled into a parking lot and exited the vehicle. Police say she was seen screaming and making a phone call before getting back in her vehicle and fleeing the scene but has since been apprehended.

As a result of the impacts, Hierholzer was killed. The crash is still under investigation at this time and no charges have been filed as of the time of this writing.

At the Dan Doyle Law Group, we know those vehicle accidents and hit-and-run accidents are far too common. If you need an experienced Philadelphia car accident attorney, you can count on us to be by your side, fighting to secure the compensation you deserve.

The Reality

We all know that there is a chance of getting into a crash when we hit the roadways each day. For the latest reporting year in Pennsylvania, there were 128,188 vehicle crashes. Out of those, there were:

  • 1,137 fatalities
  • 80,612 injuries

When it comes to pedestrian crashes, they often end with victims sustaining severe injuries or in death. The human body has no protection against the force of a vehicle slamming into it. In the case above, Hierholzer was struck two times, likely compounding his injuries.

For the latest year in PA, only 3.2% of the total accident involved pedestrians but they accounted for 13.2% of the total vehicle crash fatalities.

It is not uncommon for us to encounter the following injuries as a result of these crashes:

Treatment for these injuries can cost an incredible amount of money. Victims are often unable to return to work for long periods of time, leaving them and their families without an income.

When a person survives and is recovering, they do not have time to battle with insurance companies about settlements. Unfortunately, these companies are not going to be forthcoming when it comes to compensation. Crash victims and their families are left with the task of figuring out which bills to pay, a choice that can mean the difference between paying the electric bill or putting food on the table.

Do you know where to turn when you need help?
