It seems that hit-and-run accidents are on the rise in our area, and they often lead to severe injuries.

A life lost in another hit-and-run crash

We have learned that a 29-year-old woman died recently after being struck by a hit-and-run driver. The incident happened near the intersection of Broad Street and Lehigh Avenue at approximately 3:45 a.m. The victim was Tiffany Reed, and she was struck while walking home from her job as a manager at the local Wendy’s.

Police say that the vehicle struck Reed as she was crossing Broad Street. After the impact, the driver sped away and has not yet been caught. The driver did not stop to assist Reed.

Reed was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center to be treated, but she succumbed to her injuries about 13 hours after being struck.

Indiana Johnson, Reed’s fiancé, says that it is amazing Reed last is as long as she did considering the extent of her injuries. Reed’s family wants to know why the driver kept going. “Why didn’t they stop is my question – not stop to make sure she’s okay,” said Johnson. The family wants justice for this tragedy.

Police are investigating, but so far they only have a short video clip of the incident to go on. They know they are looking for a dark-coloured sedan that will have front-end damage.
