Gas Leak Causes Major Home Explosion

Gas Explosion

Gladwyne residents were rocked by an explosion Sunday night at the 600 block of Dodds Lane. The Lower Merion Fire Chief said that the house was under renovation and that 75 percent of the structure is gone. Thankfully, the homeowners were outside of the home at the time of the explosion and there were no injuries.

We know that the last thing anyone expects when they start their day is for an accident to happen, but this case shows that you never know what to expect. No matter what steps we take to stay safe, often, other people’s negligence can cause us harm.

This gas leak and explosion are still under investigation, so we do not know the exact cause.

Was it just a freak accident?

Did someone fail to disconnect the gas line before renovations began on the home?

Do you know where to turn if someone else’s negligence causes you or your loved ones harm?

What Can Happen?

This story highlights one of many ways that people can get hurt as they go about their daily activities. We want to go over some of the common personal injury cases we handle.

Vehicle Accidents: Pennsylvania’s current reporting year saw almost 130,000 vehicle accidents. Over 1,100 people were killed and more than 80,000 were injured. Drunk and distracted drivers are a major source of concern.

Workplace Accidents: If employers fail to provide a safe and secure working environment, they should be held liable for injuries in the workplace. This is especially true if they do not provide proper training or the correct safety gear for all situations their workers face.

Faulty Products: A quick look at the government website that tracks recalled products shows us that millions of people across the country are at risk of injury or illness due to faulty products they have used or consumed.

Premises Injuries: If property owners do not take the proper steps to ensure their facilities are safe for patrons, they could be held liable for injuries.

(This list is not exhaustive. If you are not sure about yours, please seek help from a qualified attorney.)
